The Guild has a proud history of philanthropic support to UF Health and the communities it serves. In excess of $2.7 million has been distributed by the Guild. This support has increased substantially in the past several years as Gift Stop profits and continued member donations have enabled the Guild to create endowments congruent with the values of its members.
Endowment #1 funds the Equal Access Clinic Network, a network of student-run, free health care clinics. The agreement was signed on January 8, 2019 in celebration of the Guild’s 60th anniversary. It has been fully funded at a level of $250,000 and generates annual support of $10,000 in perpetuity.
Endowment #2 funds the Medical Guild Graduate Research Award for Biomedical Science Interdisciplinary programs, an award established in 1975. The agreement was signed on October 30, 2020. It has been fully funded at a level of $200,000 and generates annual support of $8,000 in perpetuity.
Endowment #3 funds Palliative Care Support at UF Health hospitals. This agreement was signed on April 28, 2021. It has been fully funded at a level of $200,000 and generates annual support of $8,000 in perpetuity.
Endowment #4 funds the Department of Patient and Family Resources at UF Health Shandsand supports the the needs of patients that fall outside the coverage of their insurance provider or other community resources. Begun in January 2024, this endowment is now funded at $200,000 and is anticipated to generate annual support of $8,000 in perpetuity.
Endowment #5 funds theThomas C. Rowe, PhD Advancement to Candidacy Award. This endowed tribute is made possible through a generous $74,134 gift from the Guild. Formerly supported through annual gifts from the Guild, the fund has now been endowed to offer lasting support. It will annually recognize and award three to four third-year Biomedical Sciences graduate students who have successfully completed their qualifying examinations.
Our most significant fundraiser is The Gift Stop. The Guild, a founding partner of The Gift Stop, receives an annual disbursement based on Guild members’ volunteered hours. These funds are allocated for philanthropies for the J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center, specifically Shands Teaching Hospitals and Clinics, Inc., and the UF College of Medicine.
Member donations comprise the fundraising that allows the Guild to fund projects outside the hospital and College of Medicine.
