History

The UF Medical Guild was founded in 1959 by the faculty wives of the University of Florida College of Medicine. The College of Medicine was chartered in 1956. For more than sixty years, the Guild has supported connection, service, and charitable giving.

In 2017, the Guild expanded its membership. Membership is open to anyone who supports the Guild’s mission. The mission of the UF Medical Guild is to build friendships among members and to provide philanthropic support to UF Health and the communities it serves. This mission has remained the same throughout the Guild’s history.

From the beginning, the Guild showed a strong commitment to service and fundraising. Early activities included rummage sales and antique fairs. These events were well attended and successful. Over time, the Guild increased its fundraising efforts and strengthened its tradition of generosity.

Since 1968, the UF Medical Guild has contributed more than $2.77 million to support UF Health and improve the lives of people in the communities it serves.
