Book Club aka Rowdy Readers

The Rowdy Readers book club met in person on December 4 for a festive brunch hosted by Marjorie Weiner, with special thanks to Roy Weiner for serving prosecco and Carol Kem for preparing a Japanese savory custard dish, “Chawan-Mushi.” The group enjoyed a diverse buffet and lively discussion about the book The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai, set in Japan. Attendees included Carol and Bill Kem, Karan Schwartz, Marjorie and Roy Weiner, Laura Lynch, and Linda Allegra. Although there was no official facilitator, members engaged in a robust conversation covering themes such as privilege, racial discrimination, family dynamics, and legacy, all wrapped in a mystery. Everyone appreciated the book, and the group looks forward to their next selections, chosen in January.
