UF Mobile Outreach Clinic Delivers Vital Care to the Community

The UF Mobile Outreach Clinic often receives funding from the UF Medical Guild for specific initiatives through its Special Projects grants program. On a chilly Halloween morning, we found the clinic operating at Gainesville Community Ministry. offering both walk-up and scheduled services.

In the morning, the team ran a walk-up clinic, focusing on acute and urgent care needs, similar to an urgent care center. In the afternoon, the clinic transitioned to scheduled appointments, primarily providing primary care services—much like what patients would expect at their regular doctor’s office, but conveniently available on the clinic bus.

Today, the clinic is staffed by volunteers and staff including several residents from the UF Community Health and Family Medicine Department. The morning saw approximately 12 patients, and the team expected to see about nine more in the afternoon. “Today is a little bit different than some of our other clinic days,” said Kelly Folsom, clinic administrator. “Even with fewer providers this afternoon, we’re proud to continue offering a comprehensive range of primary care services to our community.”
